Job description

Do you want to inform, advise and support international students when it comes to study choices, study planning, study progress and study (im)possibilities? Due to the departure of one of our colleagues, we are looking for a Study adviser for the English-taught programmes (0.7 FTE).

This is what you will do
As study adviser, you are thé point of contact for students during their programme. You support and advise them. You proactively take care of activities that contribute to student well-being and satisfaction. In addition, you will process several applications for these students, e.g., exam facilities, admission requests and exemptions. You improve the study life of our students and make it more enjoyable, so they can develop into legal professionals in a pleasant and easy way.

In addition, you will, amongst others, be responsible for the following tasks

• you are available to give students advice on all topics they can come across during their studies
• you answer questions and provide advice on all topics students can come across during their studies by email and in office hours (both onsite and online)
• you coordinate and execute all tasks related to Binding Study Advice for the first-year bachelor students
• you provide information to prospective students.

Your new team
The Office for Student Affairs (OSA) of the Faculty of Law is responsible for supporting students, but also to organise our education and to prepare policy for our education. OSA has about 45 colleagues, of which 10 study advisers, who ensure that all education is properly planned and scheduled and the exam results and degree certificates are processed properly. We also ensure that our (prospective) students, both national and international, are informed and supported properly and that our quality assurance is properly organised.

Qualifications

This is you
In addition to the basic competencies of empathy, verbal communication, integrity and result orientation, we ask:

• a fully completed master's degree/research university degree, preferably a law degree
• extensive work experience in a similar position
• excellent intercultural awareness, preferably demonstrable through previous employment
• flexible availability
• demonstrable knowledge of both English and Dutch at CEFR C1 level
• ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
• experience in working with databases and programmes such as Progress, Excel.

Organisation

Conditions of employment

We offer you in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities:

• a minimum salary of € 3,377 depending on your education and work experience, and a maximum salary of € 4,640 (salary scale 9) gross per month in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities
• a holiday allowance of 8% gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of 8.3%
• a temporary contract for the duration of 1 year.

This position is opened up in the framework of the Projectenbank, one of the projects of the Talent Travel Program. This means that all internal candidates can apply. Candidates with a permanent employment will return to their current position.
