Apply for Board! What are my possibilities? The board of the FMF is open to six functions: Chair The position of vice chair is distributed to one of the functions above. How to apply? You can apply for the next board all year long, even before the applications are open! Applications usually open end of February, the beginning of March, and last until May. This is because the candidate board needs a few months to set up before the summer break. You can apply by sending your CV and motivation letter to . Throughout the application period, the board usually organizes activities that give you insights into what being on board is all about and see whether you'd be a good fit for the xxth board of the FMF. You can always apply, even if you still have doubts. An interview is optional and a great opportunity to inquire more information about holding a position on the board. Why would I want to do a board year? A year on the board takes up a lot of time, but you get a plenty in return. You are getting a lot of experience collaborating with others, organizing and networking. You will establish contacts within the business and academic world and people from around around the country, which can also boost your resume. For a whole year you keep this association up and running with a tight team around you. With them you can get the most out your own creativity and realize ideas into actions! As a board member people look up to you and it is also a fun time connecting with your fellow board members, as well as the other committee and association members. This is your opportunity to develop some extracurricular skills! Who would not want that? How much time does it take? A function in the board will take about 30 hours of your week (and if you want a lot more), but there is financial compensation from the University. Moreover, you will go through a tremendous self-development when you hold a postion on the board. You will learn how to: negotiate, organize meetings, deal with different kinds of people and push through to achieve your goals. Do you have any questions? Have a coffee date! Although it's definitely hard work, you'll get to know your board better than you ever imagined and it will bond you for life. It is very rewarding accomplishing your goals together - whether it be sponsorship contracts, playing a role in university politics, fun activities or organising national events such as the LIMO. I hope to one day find such a sense of achievement in my professional career. The board year offers you the opportunity to find out what your strengths and weaknesses are and to experiment with different responsibilities to see what is your personal preference; something very valuable for your further career.
